Those who benefit from home visits are patients with mobility issues, they maybe elderly, had surgery or those unable to travel.
What is orthopaedic rehabilitation?
Joint disease is very prevalent as we get older, especially in the main weight bearing joints of the lower limb which as the hip and knee. Your previous level of activity and occupation may determine the level of arthritis found in your joints. Other factors could be linked to hereditary traits. Some people effected by autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, requiring numerous joint replacements over time.
Orthopaedic surgery is also known as musculoskeletal physiotherapy and orthopaedic physiotherapy that treats any part of the musculoskeletal system.
Should I see a physiotherapist after my hip replacement?
If you have just had a hip replacement, then you may be having difficulty managing life at home as your hip recovers and be a little unsure if you area doing the right things to assist your recovery. We are happy to help you.
To aid your recovery process and improve your mobility, one of our physiotherapists will put together a post-surgical balancing and strengthening exercise programme for you. We can also help you to move around your home and strengthen your muscles. The physiotherapist will help you practice walking, walking up and down stairs or steps, getting out of bed. This will give you confidence to move around your home.

What do I need to do prior to my home visit assessment?
Please ensure you are suitably dressed for your assessment, loose clothing that can be rolled or pulled up. Make sure you have eaten and are well hydrated. We do not need the house tidied or clean sheet put on the bed! If you have your discharge letter, medication list or specific consultant instructions please have them ready for your appointment.
